MOUNT MAUNGANUI GOLF CLUB. “Mixed Golf”
ANNUAL INTERCLUB WITH RIVERSIDE (LOCHIEL) GOLF CLUB @ the Riverside Golf Course..
It looked like only 9 players would be the team for the Mount Golf Club 7 days prior to the interclub, however improving weather and some members answering the call, a total of 21 players faced off with the Riverside Golf Club team on Sunday 23rd August.
Unfortunately for the Mount, Riverside fielded a good team of 38 players and despite some of their secret weapons being away in Ngaruawahia, playing in a Workmen’s Club event, over half of their team returned very good scores of 36 or better. 2 players with 40, 2 with 41 and another 2 with 42 points.
The course was in very good condition, having just been the venue for the Waikato Winter Stroke-Play, players were treated with an excellent morning tea and finished off with a fine warm day.
Very pleasant playing conditions for golf.

Unfortunately these scores were too few to make any impression on the scores and dominance of the Riverside team.

A big “Thank You”, to all 21 players (including a Birthday girl”) who travelled to Riverside Golf Club to represent the Mount Maunganui Golf Club in this long standing annual Interclub.
A most enjoyable day with great company that has been a feature of this popular interclub event. do not receive the level of support needed to ensure that they continue.
2016 will see the return visit by Riverside Golf Club team to the Mount when the plan is turn the tables and regain the trophy.
